As a professional groomer and pitty owner. I suggest a good tea tree oil/aloe vera dog shampoo. (Espree does a good one) What if itchy and yeasty, zymox. But generally, skin problems are the result of internal allergies such as food.

I use this one for my baby, he is allergic to almost everything. Pits are very demanding dogs, people don’t realize that. I love my pittie and wouldn’t change him for anything, he’s my baby in need.

I used oatmeal bath soak, baby shampoo, then applied coconut oil to the bad spots. My nucleus, we found out he was allergic to fleas. One bite, and he’d have a fit. I would also look at what’s in your dog’s food. I saved one who was allergic to cereal. He went on a raw diet and that helped.

Shampoo only puts a bandage on the problem. Correct the situation from the inside, the dog probably has food allergies and sensitivities that need to be addressed or the problem will never go away.

My pitty has sensitive skin and allergies. It’s a bit pricey, but still worth the price.

This is what I use for my pit mix. He has very sensitive skin and a ton of allergies. This helps soothe his skin when he has flare-ups. I wouldn’t use it as a remedy, but it certainly helps soothe the itching.

Chlorhexadine dog shampoo. This stuff is magic. Works for everything. My pitbull had stinky itchy skin when he was a puppy and this solved the problem. This shampoo is what vets recommend and it has worked for all issues of rashes, hot spots, odor, itchiness and even bug bites. Check the reviews and you will see.

Found my Pitty is allergic to chicken and certain types of grains. Changed her food and she takes an organic probiotic for sensitive stomach once with her morning meal. Does wonders. Finding the cause is the key.

Chevy has had skin issues for years and this was prescribed at one point and that’s all we’ve used for over 8 years.

Trizchlor (recommended by dermatologists and available on Amazon)…. or for dry skin Tropiclean Oxymed oatmeal ‘rinse’….. I’ve been dealing with this for over 9 years and these are the only two things that work for my dog. He wears a shirt in the winter when I turn on my heater. He is a blue pit bull and a Shar Pei mix. His coat looks like brillo and he has secondary skin infections.

Baby shampoo. This is the only shampoo I’ve found in 3 years that hasn’t left her skin dry and itchy. I’ve used everything from oatmeal to prescription shampoos, but I’ve found the yellow bottle of johnson & johnson baby shampoo available on the Walmart shelf does the trick.

Try a slurry of baking soda and water – you can actually make it quite watery. Shake container often between applications to keep it in solution. Should clean skin and fur and neutralize itching. Works on human hair/scalp just great too. It’s what I’ve been using on myself for about three years now. Cheap. Easy. Efficient. Makes my hair really clean and soft and amazing I can go for several days before repeating.
