These five special puppies need a miracle

[ad_1]

As the holidays approach, we ask that you remember our furriest friends as you open your hearts this season.

Each week, iHeartDogs gives Waggle support for five special pets. Waggle is a non-profit organization that enables families and rescues to fund their pets through trusted caregivers such as veterinarians, surgeons and specialists. They check every candidate to make sure every campaign is for a pet with a legitimate need. We love Waggle because they pay the care bills directly and any extra funds are transferred for the care of other sick or injured pets.

These five pets are true Waggle recipients who are in need right now, hoping an angel will help them through the tough times. Can you help us reach our fundraising goals for these adorable faces?

Opal

Opal was one of nine dogs found living in horrific conditions inside a home after their owner died. The sweet dachshund is in hideous shape and in excruciating pain! Her lower jaw is fractured, her teeth are rotting and she has breast tumors. Now Opal needs emergency medical attention to turn her life around.

“Can you imagine trying to eat with a rotten, fractured mouth? She needs multiple surgeries to survive, and we need your help,” Leslie H. of Tennessee Dachshund Rescue, who rescued Opal, told Waggle. Leslie says that despite Opal’s past, she seems determined to live on.

“She is the sweetest, most loving little dachshund and deserves to live her dog’s years without pain with a loving family,” says Leslie. “Please consider donating for his surgeries and ongoing medical care. Donations have been down for our rescue for a long time, and these happy endings would not be possible without your support.

Walker

When you look into Walker’s caring eyes, it’s hard to believe someone shot him. A nice couple discovered the puppy walking along a road. They were shocked at how emaciated he was. Then they noticed that he could barely move, was in a lot of pain and had an injured leg.

They brought him to a local animal control facility where Walker was at risk of being euthanized. It was then that the group Friends of Cordele Animal Shelter rescued him. “Our priority was to get Walker to the hospital,” Andrea W., with the band, told Waggle. “His femur was shattered into small pieces. The only way for this good boy to live comfortably again for the rest of his dog years was to have his leg amputated. We knew that this 6-month-old puppy, otherwise in healthy and gentle, would adapt easily.

After the group manages to raise the funds necessary for Walker to have surgery, the wonderful couple who saved him want to adopt him! So he has a loving forever home waiting for him after the terrible trauma he endured.

Please donate to help Walker begin his healing journey.

olive

The Pug had a gigantic mass protruding from its back, and you could see every rib of its emaciated body. She showed up on someone’s porch in a rural area when it was 30 degrees. “The message read, ‘Please help me! She’s 100% starved,” Heather A., with One By One Animal Advocates, told Waggle.

In a flash, a volunteer from the nonprofit group brought Olive to the veterinary hospital, where a vet discovered that Olive’s bladder had prolapsed. Now she needs a surgery called cystopexy – to attach her bladder to her abdominal wall so she won’t move. “When Olive needed her family the most in her senior years, they abandoned her,” Heather says. “Can you help us get Olive the emergency surgery she needs?” Olive is so grateful to everyone for their continued love and support!

Monroe

First, a car traveling over 70 miles per hour hit Monroe. “It shook his body like a rag doll,” Heather A., with One By One Animal Advocates, told Waggle. “The driver never slowed down, leaving Monroe’s lifeless body struck again and possibly killed.” A Good Samaritan spotted Monroe, picked him up, and drove him to an animal hospital. It’s a miracle he survived! But without anyone to pay for his care, he risked being euthanized.

That’s when One By One received a phone call they will never forget. ‘ER said Monroe’s pelvis, hind legs and one joint were all broken. He had severe bruises on his lungs and was in excruciating pain,” Heather said. Monroe needed several expensive surgeries to save him, and One By One had a tough decision: Can they afford his care? It was then that Monroe had another miracle. A renowned orthopedic vet offered to do all of Monroe’s surgeries and rehabilitation at cost — no money made.

Now the nonprofit group is hoping for one last miracle: raising the funds needed to pay for Monroe’s care. “We are tired and emotional after thinking that we may have to euthanize Monroe, only for this angel to open her arms, her heart and her veterinary practice,” says Heather. “Monroe is worth every penny!” Please donate so Monroe can get that one last miracle he needs.

Maggie May

When Critical Care for Animal Angels initially rescued Maggie, they wondered what terrible things must have happened in her past. She arrived scared to death and with a belly full of puppies. Although her puppies returned home quickly, it took several years to find the right home for Maggie. “She needed just one woman to love her, protect her and keep her safe,” Regenia B., with the rescue, told Waggle. “Maggie is very suspicious of strangers and protective of the people she loves.” But one day, as if by a miracle, Maggie’s person arrived!

“Maggie was eventually adopted and is adored. She loves car rides and new adventures. She was very active until she injured her back leg while playing,” says Regenia. Now the poor Maggie limps in pain. She needs surgery to repair a ligament in her leg, but Maggie’s human mother can’t afford it. “Maggie’s adopter had serious medical bills that cost her lots of money and time at work,” says Regenia. “We try to help our adopters when they need it, but all the rescues are struggling this year. Our goal is to keep Maggie with her mother and respond to her needs. Please help Maggie get the surgery she needs!
