My cat has found a comfortable place after roaming outside for years. She had two cats that no one expected.

A emaciated cat was spotted in a neighborhood in Montreal, Canada, in need of help. Just before she was found, there were a few good Samaritans in the area trying to rescue another cat of the same age.

He thought they were sisters, but unfortunately, the other cat didn’t make them. Maud, who learned of the situation, made it her mission to get the remaining sister off the streets.

It was a difficult area to live in, and with tremendous efforts, Maud safely caught the cat in a humane trap and brought it home.

She named the cat Mulan and reached out to her local rescue, orphan montreal cats, for help. Mulan was just skin and bone and had an upper respiratory infection. That night, she had a roof over her head and plenty of food to fill her stomach.

“She was so terrified of humans, spitting and squeaking at the vet’s office,” said Celine Krum of Chatons Orphelins Montreal, with Love Meow. “The examination was difficult because she kept jumping on cabinets to escape.”

With treatment and abundant food, Mulan began to recover and gained weight. She started letting people approach her but she was still very shy around them. When they brought her back to the clinic for follow-up, they were in for a huge surprise.

“We learned she was pregnant, and that her pregnancy was advanced. A few days later, Mulan went into labor and gave birth to her first child.”

“She didn’t seem to know what to do and she left her baby there. We put the cat on her stomach and he started suckling right away. She had another baby in the hours that followed, and we helped her find her mother’s milk too.”

After 24 hours, Mulan’s maternal instinct began to emerge. I lay with her young all day and night, feeding and caring for her.

Kittens make excellent gains every day with their mother catering to all of their needs. Mulan slowly got back into her foster family when she realized that they meant good and that they were there to help her.

She came out of hiding as she gained courage. She let her humans handle her children and was comfortable enough to walk a little longer.

“Mulan was still very shy but decided to trust her foster family completely,” Celine told Love Meow.

“The kittens, Mocho and Kri Kee, never run out of their mother’s milk. Once weaned, they transform into sweet, playful and extremely cuddly kittens.”

When the two youngsters were old enough for adoption, they quickly found a forever home together.

Mulan was very relieved that she did not have to pick up other trash, and could enjoy her peace and quiet. She mustered her courage to explore and even capture the attention of her people.

With a lot of patience and encouragement, Mulan learned to play like a cat again. She discovered her favorite hobby basking in the sun while watching the neighbors from the window.

“She came to sit next to us to receive dessert. She was very calm and observant. She loved honoring us with her big eyes.”

Having survived the streets, picked up her last trash, and learned to trust, Mulan was finally ready to have a place of her own.

A family fell on top of the sweet girl and was committed to giving her everything she needed to live a happy, purr-filled life.

“It’s amazing how far she has come. When we first got her, she wouldn’t let anyone near her, let alone touch her. After a few months of socialization, she has blossomed into a happy, playful and affectionate cat.”
