Disabled but amazing Moroccan rescue cats, who just want to live a normal life are looking for loving homes in the UK. Please contact Show them on Facebook If you want to adopt it!
Cats are in great demand in the UK, can you imagine then, that in Azemmour Morocco literally 100 of these lovely little spirits are euthanized every month with little regard for their future well-being. Throw like garbage – undesirable and unloved.
Irham (Arabic word meaning ‘Take pity’) a small cat rescue operation based in Azemmour, Morocco is trying to stop this horrific behavior – our mission is to sterilize street cats, to reduce the population and stop the suffering of thousands of unwanted cats, but in the course of our work, we come across Cats and kittens who need more of us and can’t be taken back to the streets – they simply won’t survive, and are now looking for homes in the UK.
This is Blanca:
She knew what was normal once, but something happened that broke her back leg. Then nothing happened. She must have been in quite a bit of pain by the time we found her and it was too late to save her leg, the bone had become infected. But it was not too late to save her. Although she now only has 3 legs, she loves the ordinary – running, jumping, playing, humans and good food! She is a bit sheltered around the other cats, although she said she lives with 12 other people!
Her home in the UK will need a garden because running is one of her favorite things. She will love you so much that she cannot take any more. She is now almost 18 months old, spayed, vaccinated and ready to travel!
This is Suhki:
She totally thinks it’s normal. He loves to play, loves humans, loves other cats, loves affection…… How do you know she is blind and she is also very beautiful! She was found at the age of 5 weeks, abandoned on the streets of Morocco and suffering from complications of cat flu. She survived the virus but lost her sight. Blind cats are amazing and just need a safe environment to be what Suhki wants. natural.
She is now 18 months old, she has been spayed, vaccinated and the papers will be ready for her to travel in end of november. She will love you so much and will never cease to amaze you.
This is Emma:
She is a very natural cat that loves the comforts of home and humans. Natural this way. But it is not normal that she survived the first six months of her life on the streets of Morocco with only three legs and very little food. We took it to sterilize it and of course we couldn’t get it back! She spent 3 days purring and treading in the isolation tent we gave her, even though the door was open. She spent the next three days on the nearest bed doing the same. When I finally came down to find kittens playing, I wondered about “playing” and tried to join in. It was very funny and still is. It’s gossip too!
This is Nagy:
She would like to be an ordinary cat and live in only one house for the rest of her life. She was found on the street with a leg injury and was cared for for 4 months in the shelter until it was closed. Then Irham took over and took care of her but she was not living well with 24 other cats… .. she was bullied and became nervous. We moved her to my house where she lives now, but she would like to have more human contact. She is very kind, loves people and will thrive with 1 to 1. Anyone? She will knit you into little bits. nicely.
This is the shade:
The shade seems natural, but it is not. She is distinctive, and she is blind. The blindness she suffers, unlike most other affected cats in Morocco, is congenital and due to which she was abandoned, at 6 weeks old on the tip of a litter. Fortunately, we were alerted to her plight before she was exposed to several viruses out there. She is a gentle soul, very loving and affectionate, who is happy to be around other cats and loves to play! She would make her very loving companion, just needing to live in a safe environment to be her beautiful, adventurous and adventurous nature.
Caring for blind cats can be incredibly rewarding and is just like caring for a well-bodied cat, as long as the environment is safe. They quickly know their home by heart but also love to stimulate the outside. All it takes for them to be safe is a secure garden with walls/fences they can’t reach from the ground. This is the most parks!
One of these kittens now living in London was abandoned next to some litter boxes at the age of 5 weeks. He had severe eye infections and was left to die. She rescued him and his brother minutes before they were swamped by a heavy rainstorm. He is now loved, pampered, and a constant source of joy. Most visitors to his house are not aware that he is blind because he is so agile, knows home instinctively, and loves to cuddle! All of these blind cats want to have a chance to lead a normal life. Could it be you who made it possible for Suhki and/or Shadow?
beauty before and after:
We have been working in Azemmour for 4 years, and despite the pandemic and lack of support from the local government, we have spayed nearly 800 cats, fed and rescued hundreds and attended to emergencies and had a huge impact on the welfare of the cats in this town. We are eager to do more and with your help we will always be there.
It’s great to walk the streets and see healthy cut-ear (sterilized) cats, water bowls made from cut plastic bottles, street cats fed by locals with croquettes now available in Azemmour and appreciate how far we’ve come. It is especially rewarding when we still have to face so many dire scenarios.
Please donate if you can and join us in this humanitarian work. Spaying a cat in Azemmour costs £45.00 and saves hundreds of unwanted kittens from a short life of suffering.
