A cat born outside grew up clinging to her people, so she’ll never be alone again.

Ono, a watered-down calico, was born outside of a stray cat. She was separated from her mother early and found herself neglected and in need of rescuing. Marlina, founder Be their voice to save animals (In Atlanta, Georgia), she learned of her plight and set out to work.
“I carried her that night. She was about five weeks old based on her teeth and physical features. She only weighed 0.8 pounds, where she was supposed to weigh 1.25 pounds,” Marlena shared with Love Meow.
The cat was just skin and bones, covered in dirt, and very hungry.

“We rushed straight to our nearest rescue house to get supplies to feed her. I nursed my friend’s hand all the way there.”
The little ball of fur inhaled 30 ounces of cat formula during the first 20 minutes of her rescue. They continued to bottle-feed her every four hours and quickly learned how much she longed for a constant friend.

Ono was screaming at the top of her lungs when she was left alone for a brief moment. The second time her people came back, she tried to climb their legs with her delicate claws and even tried to make her way onto their shoulders.
Although very small, it was equipped with a set of tubes and a powerful engine.

Nursing kittens have the best chance of surviving and thriving when they are with their cat mother. “There are certain times when intervention is appropriate – if they are visibly injured or ill.”
Fortunately, the Good Samaritan was aware of Ono’s situation and asked for help for her.

Ono decided to discard all cat beds and instead, she would sleep on her people’s shoulders, chest, or in her arms.
Sweet calico would suckle on the ears or the face of her foster mother, and clung to her after every meal. She was able to fall asleep easily knowing that she was loved.

Ono followed her people everywhere they went, asking to be picked up and carried like a baby.
She was melting and falling asleep quickly while being held. She was clingy and demanding of attention, and just wanted to be taken care of at all times.

Over the next few weeks, I learned to eat from a plate like a big cat. Once her stomach issues were resolved, she started absorbing nutrients and growing by leaps and bounds.
Not only did it increase its size, but its energy level soared.

Ono figured out how to wrestle with toys that were twice her size. She would treat them with such ferocity and walk around the room as if springs were under her feet.
Confident, brave and adventurous, she never held back from any challenges thrown at her.

Ono continued to socialize with other kittens to help eradicate one-kitten syndrome. When I met Tess the tabby, they beat him on the spot, as if they were always litter mates.
Ono learned about boundaries and enjoyed every moment she had with her fur friends. She was particularly attached to Tess and the two formed a wonderful bond.

When it was time for adoption, the duo found their forever home together. A few weeks later, they welcomed their third cat, Bessie (from the same rescue), into their crew.

Ono’s mother forever shared that she is a princess and that she is always the first to eat, and the others let her. She used to be the one who followed the others, and now she’s a leader. She still loves to breastfeed but we’re giving her a blanket now.”

Marlena told Love Meow, “From day one, she was a sassy and strong survivor. Her will to live is unparalleled and incredible to experience. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to save her.”
