Two 10-year-old cats who share an adorable bond, have been waiting six months for their dream home together.

Milo (Tappy) and Angus (Black) came along. Nashville Cat Rescue When their owner can no longer take care of them due to health problems. They were both 10 years old and had been a linked pair since they were born.

Riding in the car to their foster home, Angus is very candid while Milo is very anxious after leaving the place they’ve known all their lives. Sarah Sylvester, who sponsors Nashville Cat Rescue, shared with Love Meow: “I put the boys in my adoption room, put out food and water and left them alone in the evening to decompress.”

For the first two weeks, Angus took refuge in a small hole in a cat tree and only came out briefly for food and bathroom breaks, while Milo began adjusting to his new living arrangements.

Sarah sat in the room quietly with the boys and helped them adjust by playing a variety of sounds and melodies. “Milo slowly started making his way to me looking for pets and pets. He is the more confident of the two, and he led the way in making friends with me.”

When Milo spent more time with Sarah, she noticed his greasy coat, pale eyes, excessive thirst, and other signs of a health problem. The spinster was immediately taken to an animal hospital.

“Fast forward one week and many more tests, Milo was diagnosed with feline diabetes. Of course, I was devastated,” Sarah said. “However, this diagnosis was not difficult for Milo. He handles his doses gracefully and patiently and the blood glucose tests he accepts cheerfully, as long as he receives kisses afterward.”

Milo was calm, brave, and affectionate as he underwent diet changes, medical tests, and procedures (including full dentistry). He’s always in good spirits, lazing at his human while sporting his gorgeous teeth.

“I couldn’t have gotten through the diabetes management process with any cat other than Milo. It was and still is a breeze to treat. It’s sparkling and shiny like a new car, and it has the best breath in town.”

Slowly but surely, Angus came out of his shell as he watched the world around him. He decides to give up his cubicle comfort one day, and take a leap of faith to accept his adoptive mother with all his heart.

“He loves being in whatever room I’m in and always near me. If I’m sitting down, he’s right next to me or he’s touching my leg,” Sarah told Love Meow. “He’s a little fickle and easily intimidated, but he’s the biggest sweetheart.”

For the first two months, Sarah did not notice the typical bonding characteristics of the two brothers, albeit well, until one day during a severe storm.

Sarah was in her office in downtown Nashville when the storm hit. She pulled her camera to check on the boys, and was amazed at what she saw. “They huddled together in the corner waiting for the storm to come out. Since then I’ve noticed the way they comfort each other.”

“(One night,) I gave Angus some probiotic paste to help avoid hairballs. After administration was complete, Milo got up from his comfortable spot, approached Angus and checked on him while Angus licked the remaining paste from his mouth.”

Although there are three readily available litter boxes in the nursery room, the brothers prefer to share one. In terms of dining etiquette, Milo doesn’t hesitate to turn away when Angus wants to snack on his salad. The same courtesy isn’t treated with friendly cat Sam, who befriended the duo.

“Milo gives Angus strength and courage, and Angus is a comforting companion for Milo. They are two great cats who have transcended life together and attracted a tremendous amount of comfort from each other.”

“Milo is brave where Angus is shy but both boys love attention and affection. Milo loves to be kissed on his stomach and if you are petting him and trying to stop, he will reach out and try to keep your hand close.”

Angus speaks out loud about his need for affection. It also enjoys sunbathing near the window with its front feet fully crossed.

Milo and Angus established a bedtime routine with their adoptive mother. “They start around 7 p.m., before I sleep much. But every night, there they wait. Once I’m settled, Angus circles my left side and Milo to my right,” Sarah said.

“They enjoy the stability of daily routines; they thrive on interest and affection and easily make friends when I have visitors. These boys have so much love to share with someone so special.”
