A cat lived outside and slept on the leaves until he met people who changed his life.

Morpheus, a long-haired orange cat, was found roaming the streets and sleeping on foliage for comfort. He was hungry and rough around the extremities and clearly needed medical attention.
A few anxious neighbors offered food and water. they worked with Little Wanderers New York City To devise a plan to bring him to safety. The cat was shy and nervous around people but did not run away as if he knew he needed their help.
After years of weathering the elements, Morpheus was finally off the streets and had a foster home waiting for his arrival.

The orange tabby was estimated to be six years old and had spent most of his years outdoors, running away from people yet. Morpheus could hardly open his eyes due to a defect in the eyelids, and he dealt with it all his life.
“He was born with a condition called ectropion in which part of his eyelid was folded toward his eyeball, in both eyes,” Little Wanderers NYC shared with Love Meow.

“This folded eyelid scratched and irritated the surface of both of his eyes, and required eye surgery to fix the condition. Morpheus was half blind and Viv was injured, but this boy was a survivor and was ready to be rescued.”
An experienced volunteer took him and gave him a quiet space to decompress.

Morpheus was very pleased with plenty of food to fill his stomach and plenty of soft things to relax in.
For the first time in a while, he felt safe and content. He was able to rest without worrying about where his next meal would come from.

While Morpheus patiently awaited his scheduled surgery, he was recovering from an upper respiratory infection, making good gains, and slowly emerging from his shell.
His surgery was successful and the beautiful boy is much happier and more comfortable now that he is pain free.

“After surgery and a lot of examination, he has made a great recovery. He looks like a different cat.”
Morpheus was friendly with the other cats in the house and enjoyed their company. By watching them interact with people, he was encouraged to be brave.

“He gets along with other cats and loves to hunt. Morpheus is also interested in wet food. It will be gone before you blink,” said Morpheus’ caregiver.
Morpheus was shy but always curious about his surroundings and liked to know what people were doing.

After months of recovery and socialization, the orange tabby was ready to find a place of his own. His fur grew soft and silky and he learned to appreciate head scratches and treats.
“He’s fun and cute and desperately wants to be cuddled and fit. He’s come a long way inside.”

An adorable family fell head over heels for Morpheus and decided to adopt him with another former street cat, Kiki.
Morpheus has been on his merry way home forever with his new feline brother. They spent the first few weeks hiding under the sofa, then claiming that their new home was their kingdom.

“(One night), I woke up to the sounds of Morpheus at a midnight party (playing with toys). Week three started with Morpheus spending time on the couch instead of under her,” adopted Monica shared, via Instagram.
Morpheus is enjoying the comfort of his new throne (the sofa). He adores other resident cats and has begun following his people around the house.

“He now lives happily ever after,” Little Wanderers NYC said. “Instead of sleeping on leaves and litter, he sleeps on antique red sofas and has become very happy, plump, and mush-ball.”
