A cat has come to the rescue for help. A few days later, she brought six kittens into the world.

feline best friends, a cat rescue in Brisbane, Australia, was contacted by a member of the public who needed help with her pregnant cat. The rescue team agreed to take her to the last litter program, help raise the cats and find homes for them.
Once the babies are weaned, they will be separated and returned to their owners,” said Nikki of Best Friends Villas. “One of our caretakers picked up the kitten named Rico. She was a little unsettled and unsure of what was going on. But within 48 hours, she was doing weird things for tummy tickles and pats.”
Rico was happy with all the amenities and food. Despite her stomach exploding at the seams, she was able to jump to the highest platform of a cat tree, her favorite spot, even after a few days.

“She gave birth to six perfect little babies in just three hours.”
Rico set out right on the mom’s duties, feeding six hungry mouths and keeping them immaculately clean. She continued to seek affection from the caregiver, her main source of support, every time she came into the room.

“She loves her hugs and will come for pats, but she rushes to the kids if they take a peep because she’s a wonderful, attentive mom.”
Rico hung close to her kittens and rarely left her side for the first week. I’ve eaten food served in bed and been refueling all day.

Over time, she would come out of her nest for more “good time” and the attention of her people, leaving her children to sleep in a warm pool.
“At seven days old, all six kittens had small, round, chunky bellies. Their eyes were just opening eager to see the world, but they haven’t made it that far yet.”

By the time they turned two weeks old, one by one, the kittens were on the move. “They were transforming from sparkling little jelly beans into little kittens. They were starting to raise their heads, flashing little eyes wide at the world around them.”
Some kittens attempted their first steps by lifting their stomachs off the ground, and an inversion soon followed.

“They were really experts at climbing Mt. Riku. Mama would often roll her chin while crawling all over the place.”
Once the cats found their feet, they were ready to get out of bed. It was only a matter of days before they started tackling their room and discovering the art of zoom.

“Playing at this age is great, rolling, waving two legs in the air while sucking gum candy into the siblings’ ears, nose, face, everything they can try to put in their mouths,” the rescue team wrote.
“It’s a shimmering pile of kittens, until they slowly start to fall asleep, and end up like a wonderful snuggling puddle.”

Just like this, the kittens are five weeks old now and thrive into playful, mischievous young kittens.
“Their characters are coming out more and more, and we have some little kids growing up, in between fits of crazy playing, running across the room, rushing into the cat tree.”

“They have dived into being big cats and they all eat their wet food with gusto.”
As their confidence and independence grow, Riku spends more time on the sidelines and takes every opportunity to be with her humans.

“Along with wandering around their room, kittens begin to shake off the box they’ve come into contact with on the bed since birth, sleeping in random places all night long.”

Rico takes a back seat while her kittens tear up the room, enjoying mischief or napping comfortably in their new sleeping arrangements.
“She’s happy to get all the human attention she can before they wake up and come crying.”
